Stena Line - Poland

Sweden's Stena Line is Europe's largest ferry company and is currently undergoing internal cost-cutting measures and reorganisation to maintain its market leadership position in an ever-competitive European ferry market. The company was founded in 1962 and focuses on families travelling by car and on the freight sector - with 31 vessels in their fleet comprised of passenger, freight and freight-only vessels.

In 2001, Stena Line became de-listed and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stena AB. Stena Line has divided up its service into several subsidiaries with Stena Line Poland providing ferry services connecting Poland and Sweden.

The subsidiary dealing with freight is Stena Line Freight. It is responsible for developing, marketing and selling the freight services of Stena Line throughout the world. The pan-European freight ferry network of 31 freight carrying vessels and 18 routes makes Stena Line Freight one of Europe's largest and most successful sea freight operations.

Stena Line also recently began to operate a freight-only route between Hook of Holland and Killinghome in the UK. Anually, Stena Line Freight handles over 1 million freight units.
