Port of Kissamos

The town of Kissamos (Kastelli Kissamou) is located by the gulf of Kissamos and has two ports: a smaller and older fishing port, and a newer port equipped to receive ferries from around the Greek Islands. The new port is situated along the road to Falassarna and provides all the facilities to serve passenger and cargo ships. It links Crete to the nearest island of Kythira, the Peloponnese (Kalamata and Gythion), and to Piraeus.

By using the port of Kissamos, visitors can avoid the crowded port of Pireaus and arrive at Crete from the Peloponesse, starting a tour of Crete from its western side. The port is near the centre of town, within easy reach of shops, restaurants, hotels and a tourist information centre.
