In October 2002, Balearia launched the super fast high-speed ferry Ramon Llull, built at the shipyard Rodriquez, which entered operation in June 2003. Following this in 2003 Balearia created the Nautas Al-Maghreb ferry company to run a new ferry route between Tangier and Algeciras, as this route would be operated by a super fast ferry an impressive crossing time of under an hour was created.
In 2004 the Balearia fleet welcomed two super fast catamarans - Nixe I and Nixe II. The first of which inaugurated the Denia-Ibiza-Formentera route in august 2004.
