Scandlines is the largest ferry operator in the southern part of the Baltic offering 8 passenger ferry services. Scandlines Ferries boast the most extensive network of routes with crossings to the Baltic States, Denmark, Germany and Sweden – used by some 20 million passengers annually. The Scandlines logo symbolises the most important Scandlines markets. The different colours of the triangle denote the countries that link the Scandlines route network in the southern Baltic. The yellow stands for Germany, red for Denmark and blue for Sweden. All Scandlines Ferries offers a wide range of restaurants, catering and tax-free services as well as the usual services and facilities expected on board a modern ship. If you want to get from different destinations around Scandinavia and Germany then Scandlines is the best option.

On June 19, 2007, the DB and the Danish ministry announced that they signed a contract to sell Scandlines to a consortium consisting of 3i Group (Copenhagen and Frankfurt), Allianz Capital Partners (Munich) and Deutsche Seereederei (Rostock) for 1,560 million Euros. 3i and Allianz Capital are to hold 40% of the capital and the DSR 20%. The sale is subject to agreements of the Finance Committed of the Danish parliament, the board of DB AG, the German ministry responsible for transport, and the European competition commission.
