Wightlink Ferries MV Wight Light - Further Ferry Information and Vessel Description

MV Wight Light is a car and passenger ferry built for the British ferry operator Wightlink. She is in service between mainland England and the Isle of Wight. MV Wight Light was designed by naval architects Hart Fenton & Company and constructed at the Kraljevica shipyard in Croatia. She was launched on 26 January 2008, the first of three vessels commissioned by Wightlink to replace their ageing ferries MV Caedmon, MV Cenred and MV Cenwulf on the Yarmouth to Lymington route. MV Wight Light was delivered on 1 September 2008. After sea trials in the Solent, she entering service on 25 February 2009. Passengers benefit from a modern and comfortable lounge with cafe/bar facilities, extensive outside deck space and a lift from the car decks to the passenger lounge.

Wight Light is one of Wightlink's new fleet of ferries. The previous ferries operated by Wightlink on the route had to be replaced, as they were over 35 years old and were reaching the end of their useful lives. The new fleet of ferries will ensure Wightlink Ferries continue to offer a fast, reliable service.
