Fastnet Line MV Julia - Further Ferry Information and Vessel Description

The new ship, the MS Julia was purchased for the current operating company, Fastnet Line, in 2009. It was built in 1982 and had previously been used to serve routes in the Scandanavian peninsula. The new ship was made ready for use following some modifications that needed to be made to make the ship compliant with Irish regulations. The Julia has 10 decks with a capacity of approximately 440 cars and 30 freight vehicles and a passenger carrying capacity of 1,860.

The passenger facilities onboard MV Julia include 300 passenger cabins, a cinema, a children's play area and restaurants and bars. MV Julia left Finland en-route for Cork on 17th September 2009 calling at the Port of Swansea for berthing trials along the way.

Fastnet Line's new vessel will provide holiday passengers with a comfortable overnight crossing in a fully-equipped ship, also carrying freight. Lorry drivers will be able to to rest overnight and cut out hundreds of miles of unnecessary driving in Ireland and Wales.

The MV Julia can accommodate up to 1,860 passengers who can relax overnight during a comfortable crossing & awake fresh on arrival, ready to start their onward journey or enjoy some time in Cork or Swansea..
